We woke up and got on the road by 8:30 and headed on down I-26. We were 231 miles from my nephew's house. We expected the traffic to be really heavy, but it was very light. I guess we just travel earlier than most. The road between Ashville and Columbia is very hilly and curvy and rough. I think that it is easier to travel in the mountains of eastern Kentucky than the small, curvy hills of western North Carolina. When we got to Columbia I called Betty's RV park to see if they had a vacancy. They were full, but since we are self contained we could park in their overflow area for $10 cash a night. So we thought we might as well try it out. The park was easy to get to and when we got there they had laid huge pieces of cardboard down for us to park on because the grass was so wet and muddy and we had a water hookup and 30 amp electric. The park is mostly workers at the atomic plant and stay here full time.
Hiawatha is still coughing his head off, so he stayed behind in the camper while I went to visit these two cuties:
I am wearing a mask because I have some congestion and although I think that it is only allergies; better safe than sorry where children are concerned.
Stay tuned tomorrow as we travel for parts unknown.
I love being back in my flip flops!
Cute child. Looking so cute.
