Dawson City

A gold rush town that still looks like a gold rush town. Main St is paved and that's about it. It is lost in time, but is a really neat little town. We were here for Canada day so it was really booming. They have a really nice museum and gave  out free barbeque sandwichs and drinks. They had live entertainment and a parade and lots of things going on. We still aren't feeling great so we just took it easy and sat around downtown.

We went panning for gold again; still not rich

I was prepared for the bugs this time. They just about ate me alive last time we panned.

This was on the creek where we panned. There are some huge mining operations still working on Bonanza Creek!

They have destroyed these mountains. At least when we strip mine in Ky we reclaim. Not here. Dredging tails are everywhere

Since we didn't strike it rich at Bonanza creek we decided to try our luck ay Diamond Tooth Gerties. The first casino in Canada. They still put on a stage can-can show. It was really good; but no bonanza there either but some  good entertainment

Diamond Tooth Gertie and her "girls" sang the national anthem with a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police at the gold panning contest

This picture shows how light it is outside here at night. I took this picture at 11:30 pm. It is so weird. I love the constant daylight, but don't think I could handle the constant darkness in the winter.

Sweet dreams from Diamond Tooth Gerties!!
