The Icefields Parkway

No doubt the Icefields Parkway has some awesome scenery; but my goodness the roads are so bad. The elevation gets really high and there are sections that are like riding on rumble strips for miles and miles. There are lots of places to pull over to admire the view. We drove 145 miles today and it took 7 hours!!!  Just as we were getting into Jasper it started to rain. We decided to pull in and stay at Whistlers CG in Jasper National Park. It is a huge campground and we were backed up at the check-in. I guess lots of campers were tired from traveling on the Icefields Pkwy.

Here are a few pics from today

They have overpasses for the wildlife to cross the road

Lots of beautiful glaciers

The lakes and rivers are the most beautiful aqua color.

Hiawatha and Carvel talking it over

This is what happens to chips at higher altitudes

Victoria Glacier

Lunch

This road has a switch back and goes up a steep mountain

Big horned sheep blocked the road

Thankfully we did not have any vehicle troubles on the road today!
