Craft Festival

Today aftet zumba we drove down to Bonita Springs for a craft festival. It was a  really nice fair with artisans from all over the US. Hiawatha decided to wear his "I'm a tourist" shirt!
I bought a few flamingo items but most things wouldn't hold up very good traveling; but there were some really unique items.
We came back and fixed dinner. I had a load of white clothes to wash so me and my little red wagon headed to the laundry.  They have a washer and dryet just for pet stuff!
We thought everything down here would be expensive. We have been pleasantly surprised that most things are cheaper than at home

Happy birthday to our sweet daughter-in-law!

"We didn't do anything today, but stayed busy"

Said Hiawatha tonight!

But at least it didn't rain.  We both got over 10,000 steps today.  We played a couple of games of shuffleboard; and we split the games.

We walked around the park checking out the 30 amp sites to see if we want to change sites if we decide to come back here.  This site is pretty soggy when it rains.

We also took a long bike ride in the park.

I washed a few clothes and put some in the dryer and hung some on the solar dryer!

Hiawatha has started waxing Lulu!  She sure needs it.

We got the kayaks all cleaned up today and ready to put in the Peace River.  Look out alligators!

Zumba tomorrow!

It's Official!

The wettest January in our area of Florida since they have been keeping records!  Everything is wet and soggy.  I walked to Zumba in my rain boots this morning.  I have over 10,000 steps before noon today, and since it is still pouring rain I am sure I won't get much more.

This plant is all over the campground and I think it is so pretty

Notice the nice practice green behind the plant. Hiawatha and I bought a couple of putters to practice for mini golf!

We took the bikes to Boca Grande for a ride around the island. It was so pretty and i have lots of pics on my memory card and for some strange reason I cannot upload them to my laptop!  We had appointment to get the front hitch on the truck after we left Boca. I got a migraine just as we were leaving the island and I didnt have my rescue meds with me (i now have made sure I keep them in the truck!). Anyway by the time we got the hitch on the truck I was in full blown migraine mode. Fortunately the rescue meds worked fast and I was feeling better once i got back to the camper and took my medicine, but it still left me with the mark of the beast!

After zumba the mark is still visible; but I made it thru the whole class!
And what is the reward for zumba
Grits and fried egg!  My favorite!

Hiawatha is waiting on the rain to quit so that he can get his 10,000 steps. I am shooting for 15,000 but it is doubtful

The Sun! The Sun!

Finally a really nice day!

I started the day with Zumba and then Hiawatha and I took Tai Chi.  I was pretty worn out from Zumba, but the Tai Chi wasn't too strenuous.  But Hiawatha had to rest afterwards!

After lunch Hiawatha started to wash the rv, but the sun was drying it so fast that it was getting water spots; so he decided to wash it another time.  So we went on a bike ride and then a walk to the dock so I could get over 10,000 steps.

I washed clothes and then we had a shuffleboard play date with our neighbors.  It was fun!

Tomorrow  is Pancake Day, then we have our announcement program.  We are looking forward to the bicycle club outing tomorrow.  It goes to Boca Grande and is supposed to be really nice.  Hopefully it won't be 16 miles like last week!
.
Our hitch for the front of the truck is in, so they will probably put it on one day this week.

The most exciting thing is that our son and his wife bought a new house today!!  We are so excited for them!

Until tomorrow.....if we survive the bike ride!

Thomas Edison and Henry Ford

Today we went to church and then headed south to Fort Myers to tour the winter homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. The houses are side by side on the bay.

The grounds were so beautiful. They also have a really nice museum!  You could easily spend all day here.  It was very interesting and I would like to read more about the life of Thomas Edison.

As we were leaving I ran into the ghost of Thomas Edison

Are We in Kansas?

Gee, the wind has been unreal today. Everybody has their awning closed and all outdoor stuff secured!

Since outdoor play was out of the question we went shopping and just looking around. I did manage to get over 11,000 steps; most of it holding onto my cap!  No bike riding today.

Dinner was at Culvers and then we walked down to the boat dock to see the beautiful full moon.

Hopefully tomorrow is going to be the last of the wind and cool temps.
Hiawatha is busy learning how to whittle. I think he is going to be good at it. We went to Michaels and bought him a bag of wood to work on with my 40% off coupon.
This pic is just another section of this campground. The sites are more spacious than the historic section that we are staying in and there is another section that has even larger sites. We like it over here in the historic section. We are close to everything

More tomorrow if we don't blow away!

Rain again

It was very rainy here today. So  I just cleaned in the camper. Put up these pics... Sure do miss these sweet babies
We finally got rid of the rain so I washed some clothes and hung them on my solar dryer that Hiawatha made. Everyone in this park has one. I still use the 110 dryer that is descretly situated under a tablecloth; but like having the solar dryer too!
We put the bikes on the new rack today to try it out. I think it looks like a wheelchair rack!
It does fold up nicely.  I will be glad when we get the front hitch on the truck. We are going to have $500 in hitch and rack to carry two bikes that I am sure no one would take if we tried to give them away!

I got over 10,000 steps today. It's a good thing that i did because I fixed thick pork chops, baked potato, corn and corn muffins for dinner!  I have zumba at 9am so I will work it off then!

Until tomorrow!

Getting better

I had zumba again this morning and it seemed a little easier. Still plenty exhausting. Right after zumba we had shuffleboard club matches. We are getting better.  Hiawatha won 2 of the 3 matches he played in and I won 1 out of 3.  Maybe the practice is helping.

I did some laundry that i couldnt wash in the campet so my little red wagon was in order.....

We went and got the bike tack put on today. We put it on the back while we are waiting for our front hitch to come in. It is just too hard for us to lift the bikes up into the back of the truck. Pics tomorrow

When I cook in the camper this is what I have to do before I start
The fish truck came today.
Crab cakes today were great!

Until tomorrow.... Stay warm all my northern friends and family!

Bike Day

LWe left our bike baskets at home.  Baskets are really handy, so we decided to go and buy a couple.  We went all over looking for me a basket that didn't cost a fortune....but most places like Walmart were sold out.  We went to target and finally found one at Kmart.  I also figured out that I needed a bell because everybody on the trail had one but me and I needed a new mirror.  We are also still looking at bike racks.  It is just too hard to get them up in the back of the truck with the top on the truck.

When we were in town we passed this restaurant
Moes is a favorite place of my little nephew Kash. When you go into Moes the workers yell "welcome to Moes" so Kash called it "welcome to Moes". So cute!

We practiced our shuffleboard today and split the matches.

Tonight we had bingo, but once again we didn't  bingo. Maybe next wednesday will be lucky.

I got just over 13,000 steps. Discouraging that i havent lost a pound😰

Retirement is Killing Us!

Today we got up bright and early for the coffee and announcements session.  We decided to go with the bike club on their ride today instead of playing with the shuffleboard club.

The ride was on the Pioneer Heritage Trail and it was 16 miles round trip.  The first 8 miles wasn't too bad.  We all stopped at the Fishery to eat lunch.  It was too good.  I had gumbo and crab/avacodo salad and Hiawatha had gumbo and Alligator trail.

The trip back from eating lunch was a little harder since it was against the wind.  By the time we were within two miles of the parking area we were getting pretty tired and a little giddy

The trail was flat and an easy ride...we are just a lot out of shape!

We did see some really neat things on the trail.  The largest Blue Heron that I have ever seen

And a really huge Eagles nest with some cute little eagles peaking over the side.  If I go again  I will take my binoculars!

It was another fun filled busy day and I have baked chicken in the oven and corn muffins in the convection oven.......Later

A Day of Firsts!

I went to my first zumba class!  Whew was it hard but I made it through the whole class. I did put 6000 steps on my fitbit in that one hour; but zumba kicked my butt!  I will be sore tomorrow!
I also walked before zumba so I had 10,00 steps before noon!

We went into town to look at bike racks for the front of the truck. We saw several that we liked; now we need to do some research!  We also went to walmart and bought some fishing gear!  We have several good fishing piers in the campground.   I didnt catch a thing but Hiawatha caught his first eel!
My rig moved a few times; but mostly looked like this
I did get go see a nice sunset on the Peace River
We finished eating and walked back to the camper and ate dinner.

At the end of the day my first 20,000 steps
